The cloud market is booming. That is why Microsoft has announced that it will expand the existing Azure regions. In Germany, new data centres are currently being built in the regions Germany North and Germany West-Central.
Within the European regions, work is underway to expand the new Availability Zones, adding a new solution to the Azure family. The aim is to provide customers with a high availability strategy. Microsoft Cloud Germany, with a German data trustee, has not yet been able to establish itself as hoped. This is certainly not due to a lack of demand. Rather, the reasons are to be found in the higher service costs and the lack of product up-to-dateness. The global cloud strategy, on the other hand, is being increasingly adopted, with Microsoft increasing Azure revenues by up to 93% in Q3/2018 (Microsoft's fiscal year does not correspond to the calendar year).
