Review Existing Commitments Now
Azure Reservations Are Becoming Less Flexible

Effective February 1, 2027, Microsoft is changing the terms for exchanging Azure Reservations. Newly purchased Reservations for services that are also supported by Azure Savings Plans generally can no longer be exchanged for other Reservations after this date.

Anyone currently using Reservations to optimize their Azure costs should therefore not wait until 2027.

Now is the right time to review existing Reservations, their utilization, and future Azure usage.

After all, the same commitment model isn’t optimal for every workload: Microsoft continues to position Reservations for predictable, stable workloads. Savings Plans, on the other hand, offer more flexibility across different supported services and regions.

We’ll help you optimize

Syscovery works with you to analyze your Azure usage and existing commitments. We help you

  • evaluate existing Reservations and their usage,
  • identify unused or suboptimally utilized commitments,
  • meaningfully compare Reservations and Savings Plans,
  • consider additional savings opportunities such as the Azure Hybrid Benefit, and
  • develop a long-term Azure FinOps and cost optimization strategy.

Make the most of the time leading up to the transition: Let’s work together to assess how well your current Azure commitment strategy aligns with your actual workloads.
